What is InKris about?

InKris started over at Substack as my attempt at an author’s newsletter. I found myself not posting on it nearly as often as I wanted, and when I did want to post, what I wanted to talk about wasn’t only about my writing successes, but also my fears and anxieties around it. I feel like there’s plenty of works and publications out there that do plenty to document the upsides of writing, but there’s very little that focuses on someone’s personal struggles with it. There are days where writing defines my entire life; there are days where it’s my worst enemy. I think those two sides of the same coin deserve to coexist.

The name ‘InKris’ is as straightforward as it sounds: this newsletter is In Kris, or whatever thoughts and feelings are inside of me. Combining the two creates the word ‘ink’ in the first syllable, harkening to the idea of bringing ink to paper.

I moved from Substack to Beehiiv as the values of the former website no longer aligned with my own. With this transition, I am hoping to continue on my path to make my writing journey transparent, so others who may have a rollercoaster of emotions regarding their favorite hobby or line of work can find community in their love and struggles. I am also aiming to incorporate more of my bookish life into this newsletter, as reading is the pedals to get writing moving.
